PPG Six Timer

Westend teams reached the Final of every age group at the prestigious PPG tournament at Canalside on Sunday.

Pictured are the Lions who overcame a shaky start to comfortably beat Shelley 2-0 in the Final.
Paul Howarth's Tigers emphasised the quality in the  under 7 squad by going unbeaten all day.

A special mention to a very young Pumas squad who showed that the future of Westend is in very safe hands.
Manager Andy North was 'over the moon' about the performance of both the LIons and Tigers squads, with the former losing in the Final to a very good Eccleshill team.
After going unbeaten in all ten matches the Lions lost in a Final penalty shootout against Hepworth.
The Tigers and Pumas put in some excellent performances and were a credit to the Club.
Steve Green's squad went 1-0 up in the Final only to concede two late goals and will have gained valuable experience from this event.
The Tigers played some excellent football and will be looking forward to Woodkirk Valley next weekend.
A superb display from the Lions in the Final against Honley.
After going 2-0 down Westend levelled the score at 2-2 before losing ito a last minute goal.

The Tigers put in some creditable performances during the league matches and are expected to do well in the next tournament.
A comfortable 3-0 victory in the Final against Brighouse Sports was the highlight of a fantastic team effort from the squad who are eagerly looking forward to a repeat perfomance next week at the Woodkirk Valley 6 a sides.
Mark Sopala's Tigers played well throughout the tournament and were unlucky not to reach the Final.

Squad selection
Each manager will announce their squad in good time before an event.

Westend kit
Each player selected will be provided with Westend shorts/shirt and socks prior to the event.
We have spent over £1,500 purchasing kit to ensure all the teams look smart on the day so players must only wear the official Westend shirt, shorts and socks.
We do not have an endless supply of kits – players must return their shirts/socks and shorts after each event if asked to do so by the manager.
We pride ourselves on the excellent way players, managers and parents conduct themselves at Westend.
Anyone acting in a manner likely to bring the Club into disrepute will be asked to leave the venue immediately.
It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure their child has transport to and from the venue.
If anyone wants a lift on the day – please make sure the team manager is aware.
No one will  miss a tournament just because they do not have transport.
We hope and expect parents will make every effort to travel to each tournament and watch their child enjoying a great day out playing for Westend.
